The Wild and Wonderful World of Elon Musk
1 x 52' HDHis rockets are revolutionizing space exploration. His cars have dramatically changed the image of electric vehicles. His factories are among the largest on the planet.
His name is Elon Musk and in just 20 years, he’s become one of the most powerful men on the planet with a fortune that amounts to hundreds of billions of dollars. Charismatic and mysterious, brilliant and disturbing, a jokester with a reputation for being high-handed, he’s like a character out of a science-fiction novel. But behind this fascinating persona lie a host of concrete technical innovations. These innovations concern us all, because they already have an impact on our daily lives or will in the near future, whether in transportation, energy, artificial intelligence, or space exploration.
In terms of transportation, Elon Musk has made a big splash: First, with his Hyperloop, a project of hyper-fast electromagnetic transport capsules in tunnels that would replace highways; then, of course, with Tesla, a company that’s become the leader in electric vehicles. Today, one in ten electric cars sold in the world is a Tesla, a genuine computer on wheels. Beyond the automobile, how is Elon Musk carving out an even bigger niche in homes around the world? He thought of placing his lithium batteries in Powerwalls that would allow households to achieve energy autonomy and even sell their electricity surplus. Another quest of the visionary: A network of 42,000 satellites called Starlink that would give Internet access to the entire planet.
But Elon Musk dreams even bigger. In the early 2000s, the space industry, previously accessible only to nations with colossal budgets, saw the emergence of a new private player: SpaceX. SpaceX revolutionized the suffering space industry with its powerful and above all reusable rockets, a real technical feat. The Falcon Heavy rocket sports 27 engines. Its power is comparable to that of 18 Boeing 747s at takeoff. In 2021, we witnessed the incredible image of a rocket coming down from the sky and landing vertically. Sending satellites into space and supplying the International Space Station isn’t ambitious enough for Elon Musk. His craziest goal? Setting foot on Planet Mars! SpaceX plans to build 1,000 Starship shuttles to send to the Red Planet. Elon Musk has announced that by 2070, the Martian colony could house a million individuals!
Is his dream destined for failure or might Elon Musk surprise us once again?
To understand the vision of this extraordinary entrepreneur, using computer-generated images and animations, we’re about to take you on a deep dive into his impressive array of projects. From the more concrete to those that seem impossible, it’s a journey into the fascinating world of tomorrow, one that’s already starting to become reality.
