Gypsies and Travellers: Their Real Lives

In France, they are commonly referred to as “Travellers”. In reality, this generic term covers several communities with their own traditions. They are Manouches, Voyageurs, Catalan Gypsies or showmen: there are almost 300,000 of them living in France, more and more often on a sedentary basis.

Their lifestyles are highly codified. An organization that some may consider archaic, but which is based on centuries of tradition.

To discover these communities' uniqueness, we will spend several months sharing their daily lives. Surprising and endearing, the Gypsies share with us their code of honor, their laws and their customs based on family and solidarity.
