The Jehovah's Witnesses: The Inside Story
1 x 52' HDJehovah’s Witnesses are known throughout the world for knocking on people’s doors and trying to convert them… But behind their neat and tidy exterior, who are they really?
They are first and foremost members of a religious organisation whose proselytization campaigns have converted close to 8 million people around the world, and which over the years has become powerful, rich and extremely well-organised. The key to all of this? Getting volunteers to build properties which they then sell 15 or 20 years later.
It’s also a movement run exclusively by men. A multinational firm which has turned faith into an industry and its message about the world’s imminent destruction into its number one business asset. Only members of the organisation will be saved.
And to be deserving of eternal life, Jehovah’s Witnesses are prepared to make any sacrifice, for example refusing medical advances, particularly blood transfusions.
In the name of the Bible they also encourage adherents to shun family members who no longer want to be part of the group. Other practices, like not reporting crimes of pedophilia have also left a stain on their reputation.
With the help of victims, ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses and the most knowledgeable Jehovah’s Witness experts, we are going to show you behind the scenes of this very closed community, which has lived on the margins of society for nearly 150 years.
This is the story of a controversial movement whose authoritarianism and absolutism has wrecked families and destroyed lives… Jehovah’s Witnesses.
