The Secrets of Wild Flowers
6 x 52' HDImagined as a spectacular escape into six different landscapes, the series sets out to discover the most sublime and most useful wild flowers, which, sheltered from human interference, face up alone to the most extreme environments. Harangued by the scolding sun and seawater, samphire possesses a layer that protects it from salt: it grows where other plants would perish. Capable of floating or collecting air reserves in its rhizome, the water lily has made an ally of abundant water. In the meantime, forest flowers such as the lady’s-slipper orchid search tirelessly for the light they need to grow. The mountain flowers’ adventure is more of a vertical one: moss campion can live for over 1,000 years on the summits (inside its cushions, it’s 20°C warmer than the outside temperature). Wild flowers have even managed to pierce through tarmac, making a place for themselves in our polluted and overpopulated towns where they are the basis for numerous ecosystems. A veritable invitation to explore and learn, this series unveils the mysteries of these intrepid flowers which will do anything to survive. Discreet yet indispensable for Man, they tell the story of their adaptation to a hostile environment. Each part brings you fascinating encounters with those who deal with them daily: herbalists, chefs, beekeepers, perfume creators…
